Christmas Tree Removal

 The scouts are once again removing Christmas trees for residents in Southborough, MA.  Christmas Tree pickups in Southborough will take place the morning of Saturday, January 9, 2021. For most of us, it’s a flat $10 fee for any tree. But the Scouts offer to do it for free for seniors, veterans, and members of the Police and Fire departments.To schedule your pickup email troop1trees@gmail.com or call 508-330-2361. Requests will be taken until 8:00 pm the night before. Be sure to provide your name, phone number, and address. Your donation should be in a plastic bag clipped or taped to the top of the tree. The trees must be left at the end of your driveway by 9:00 am that morning.

The List: Building a Stronger Immune System

  This list is the result of an experience I had with my own immune system. I'd gone to a dentist to have a tooth pulled and he insisted that I take antibiotics for a week afterward. I was resistant to the idea, knowing how they affect the immune system. They are, after all,  anti  biotic. But I acquiesed. The first day I was on the drug I could feel my energy dropping. By the end of the week I was beginning to have severe bronchitis and sinusitis, digestive system issues, and yeast infections which resulted in UTIs. It took me six months of intense work to bring my immune system back up to where it had been before I took the antibiotics. Gary Drake, 65, of Southborough, MA

  Southborough   – Gary A. Drake, 65, of Southborough, passed away Nov. 20, 2020 after a brief but aggressive battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Anna (Schwenk) and Albert Drake Sr. Gary was raised in Southborough and was a 1972 graduate of Algonquin Regional High School in Northborough. During his career he worked for Data General and then as a contractor building and restoring many homes. Gary enjoyed fishing and to great pleasure talking about his past fishing adventures. He was a diehard New England Patriots fan and was devoted to the Red Sox. In addition, he was an avid reader, loved crossword puzzles and watching old classic black and white movies. Gary was also a huge animal lover.
